Howdy all!
Thought I should update today. First of all, Happy Friday! I go back to school Sunday, so that is exciting! So, as I said in my last post "Falling off of the bandwagon", I fell off about a week ago, and this week was catch up game. Which by the way, is probably not healthy for someone who is not used to running everyday. I ran Monday like my training plan said, then Tuesday I did my first catch up, Wednesday as schedule then Thursday finally officially caught up... Then today like scheduled! Yes, that is running everyday! I am so looking forward to Sunday, (which is my day off!)
Anyway that is not why I am writing. Today, I had to run at the gym/track. It is much too cold to run outside! Unfortunately, I am going to consider myself an advanced runner only one time... TONIGHT. I saw a lot of disrespectful things on the track today... so I thought I should write some things I noticed, that are just not okay. And, believe me... I know it is the beginning of January. We see a lot of runners/walkers that typically wouldn't be out and about any other day except the first month of the year. If you get what I am sayin'!
So here we go... Etiquette of the track:
1. If you walk, it is considered respectful to stay in the inner parts of the track-- and no, this doesn't mean lanes 3, 2, and 1 when there are only 4 lanes. This means 2 and 1, or if you really want to be nice, just stay in lane 1. This is so that faster walkers, and runners can pass you.
2. Running/walking on a track is kind of like driving on a multiple lane road... ALWAYS, and I mean always look behind you before you pass someone. There may be someone in your "blind spot". When there is someone right behind you, you don't try to pass someone in the fourth lane meaning you are slowing down the person that is right on your tail. It's not only dangerous, but EXTREMELY disrespectful.
3. Before taking children to the track-- teach them above rules, and keep your eyes on them. Let me just say, the kids are disrespectful because they don't know, but parents have no reason to be like that. Children should not be able to roam around anywhere, and weave around runners and walkers. It's obnoxious, and hard for me to keep running a pace during my training.
Okay, I am kind of done ranting. So, as you can see I most likely did not have a great run. The kids/parents that were disrespectful tonight actually didn't throw off my pace for the most part.. I pretty much kept it the same as I do any other night. I just think that maybe some novice runner will actually come across this blog, and learn a thing or two. I hope I did my duty of bringing something good to the world!
Live Confidently.
